What is AES?
The Automated Export System (AES) is an electronic system used to submit U.S. shipper export declarations directly to U.S Customs prior to shipment export. AES filing is required for exports with cargo valuing over $2,500. When an AES is successfully filed, a unique ITN will be created. This system was created to ensure that export laws are followed, to enhance trade statistics, minimize duplicate reporting, and improve customer service.
